These virtual collections were curated as part of the HM Queen Margrethe II Distinguished Research Project on the Danish-Icelandic reception of Nordic antiquity, generously funded by the Carlsberg Foundation. Drawing on expertise and collections at the Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle in Denmark, the National Museum of Iceland, and the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages at University of Iceland, it examines the reception of Old Norse literature from its scholarly beginnings to its popularisation in contemporary arts and sciences. It brings together two research projects, Writing (hi)stories by Dr Katarzyna Anna Kapitan and Writing futures by Dr Dale Kedwards.
Dr Katarzyna Anna Kapitan is researcher of Old Norse-Icelandic culture, with main focus on manuscript studies, transmission history of Old Norse literature, and digital humanities. She completed her doctoral degree at the University of Copenhagen, after which she proceeded to postdoctoral research at the University of Iceland, National Museum of Iceland, and Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle.
Dr Dale Kedwards is researcher of Nordic language and culture. He completed his doctoral degree at the University of York, after which he proceeded to postdoctoral research at the University of Zürich, University of Southern Denmark, University of Iceland, National Museum of Iceland and Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle.
